ESTATE VINEYARD
San Andrés
San Andres vineyard is located near the Maule River in the Maule Valley, where vines have been grown for over 300 years. The tempering effect of the nearby Andes Mountain creates a Mediterranean climate producing ideal growing conditions and world class wines.
The vineyards are planted in ground free of philoxera where the pure water of the Andes Mountains, the Mediterranean weather with rainfalls during winter and dry-long summer are excellent to obtain fruits with high concentration and exceptional aromatic character.
Nestled along the Central Coast, roughly equidistant from Santiago and Concepcion, Maule Valley is a wine lover’s paradise waiting to be discovered.
While Cabernet Sauvignon and Carignan have helped put Maule Valley on the map, the region boasts a diverse range of grape varieties that cater to a variety of palates. The area’s unique terroir, characterized by warm days, cool nights, and diverse soil types, allows us to craft a wide array of high-quality wines.
When our great grandfather migrated to Chile from Europe arrived in the Maule Valley in 1740, brought the vines from Europe and planted this new vineyard to continue our family’s wine tradition.
Our family was one the first family to be part of the founder family of the Talca city, in 1745 making it a place full of opportunities. Today the Talca is the capital of the Maule Valley.
The Maule Valley was and still is one of the best terroirs in Chile for production of excellent wines, representing more than 45% of the Chilean wine production.
Chile’s wine origins began in Maule Valley original wine growing region and today the region is the biggest wine producer in Chile.
Chile’s wine heritage began here when the first European settlers arrived in the country. These settlers chose Maule for its superior climatic conditions and ideal soil for growing wine grapes, the same conditions that provide the foundation for the production of exceptional grapes and world class wines today.
Our longstanding experience in working within the various microclimates and land in Maule Valley provides us with a unique ability to deliver the ultimate expression of the varietals with which we work.
«As our parents used to say, a great wine is made in the vineyard. For this we must work tirelessly, always discovering, learning, and seeking to understand what the Maule Valley has to offer.» In this way we continuously explore the areas and microclimates that allow us the best grape production. That is why we have 3 different vineyards in the Maule Valley,
Santa Marta: Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot
Pencahue: Carménère and Cabernet
Maule: Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc
From this three vineyards here we source all our grape that go directly to produce our outstanding wines.
History, tradition, passion, terroir, and hard work are the words that best define the unique nature of our wines.
Our Vineyards
We at San Andres have selected these three vineyards for their unique growing conditions and terroir, not all grapes grow identical under different soil and climate conditions, we source different styles of grapes the give our wines more depth and complexity, the grape is he expression of the terroir the vine is cultivated
We are committed to protecting the environment by using sustainable farming practices. During the course of the vineyard development, we were careful to preserve the majestic Maule Valley.

The Environment
Unlike many vineyard owners, we chose not to sterilize the soil because of our belief in maintaining the natural soil ecology. We are committed to maintaining and enriching the soil through the use of composts, worm casting and other natural materials.
To further enhance the soil, permanent cover crops were planted. Scientific data overwhelmingly indicates that cover crops are good for vineyards. In addition to promoting a healthy ecosystem and attracting beneficial insects and the additional competition for water and nutrients can improve the quality of the vine fruit.
Although not an organic vineyard, we are constantly seeking ways to reduce the amounts of herbicides used through hand weeding and the use of specialized weed control equipment.
